Modern
Kilims are flat-weave rugs. A Kilim (flat-weave) is any rug that is constructed without including any knots at all. Instead, the parallel running fibers that comprise the length of the rug (warp) and those that run along the width (weft) make up the whole surface of the rug. Rumi's Modern kilims are from Faryab, Sar-e Pul, and Balkh provinces in norther Afghanistan. While maintaining the old tradition of weaving, modern kilims are adding modern designs into kilims. Vintage Kilims are hand collected during my trips to Mazar. Like all kilims, they are one of a kind with stories of vibrancy, color, and longevity.
